Sizing the radio strap is important so that the radio will hang at the proper height when used in different situations.

It is important to cover our radio and straps and wires from a myriad conditions including heat, water,  and chemical contaminants. 

At  other  times we want to look good to the public and other fire personal.

The Commander was designed to look good when wearing Class A uniform shirts and coats.

The measurement of the radio strap starts at the end of the clip on one end to the end of the clip at the other end.

There at a few way to come up with the correct length.

Option 1: The best way is try one on. Find another person close to your height and body shape and if it fits your needs just measure with a tape measure.

Option 2: Another way is to take a tape or even a piece of rope , pass it over the correct Shoulder when wearing Turn Out Gear, and pinch it at the height you want to be the top of the radio and use this length. Be sure that you do not measure of the outside of your coat because you want to protect your radio gear at all times.
